I hope everyone is faring okay through the storms.  I’ve seen some downed limbs and people out cleaning up – a tree on my street got struck by lightning last night!

It’s hard to believe I am writing my last Stay In the Loop of my first term in the legislature. I hope HD 70 voters are proud of the work we have accomplished together and ready to keep going.  Judging by my own inbox, texts and mail – we all know there is an election Tuesday but don’t forget to vote on November 5! Polls are open from 7 am to 7 pm and you can double check your polling location here.

We had some fun on Halloween treating a severe case of election fever.  Doctors’ orders were to …. vote Tuesday!

I previously reported that the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT) was looking at the State Department of Education’s delivery of certain funds to school districts throughout the state.  You can watch that hearing here and read follow up coverage here.  I also thought you might be interested in seeing this report from Appleseed that tracks a long list of the concerns about Superintendent Walters.  You will see the pattern of continued failures to fulfill his constitutional and statutory duties.  Our families, students and teachers deserve so much more.

In Better News

I want to share a story of an Oklahoman really stepping up.  Mike Beckham of Simple Modern, a drinkware company in Oklahoma City announced he will be offering all employees up to $6000 in support for childcare costs.  Below are some of his thoughts on this decision:

We are going to tentatively set a Coffee and Conversation for the morning of Wednesday, December 5 at Village Inn on Harvard.  But that’s pending for now!

It’s such an honor to serve this district.  I am always impressed and proud of how engaged, curious, thoughtful and active our community is.  It makes the job of serving you enjoyable and helps so much in getting things done.  I am hopeful to be serving for a second term and continuing to show that the people over politics equals good government!   Everyone stay safe and dry and stay in touch!
